Ken Kaufman and his wife, Corinne Majno, renewed their wedding vows on Monday at their family home overlooking Vineyard Sound. The service was performed by Rev. Michael Allen who was accompanied by his wife, Rev. Priscilla Allen. Corinne was simply gorgeous in her wedding gown. Guests enjoyed the early evening festivities as well as photographs on the beach despite the coolness of the day. Videographer Ken Wentworth filmed the entire celebration and Elaine Diotima Vogel Vanderhoop photographed all.

The Aquinnah Public Library will be open with regular hours on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. The Library Trustees, Jennry, Michelle and Natalie are all looking forward to greeting patrons once again and will be serving apple cider and other refreshments at 10 a.m. We can look forward to Marianne Neill’s home-baked scones and other delicacies. On Dec. 18 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. there will be a library’s staff/volunteer appreciation open house. All are welcome.

Carol McManus of Espresso Love in Edgartown will present her new book Table Talk. Not only will she present and discuss her book but will also have a demonstration of her culinary skills. Carol will be at the library on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 5 p.m.

Martha’s Vineyard Neighborhood Convention convened at the Tribal Building on Veterans Day. Tobias Vanderhoop presented an overview of the Wampanoag history and culture, followed by a question and answer period. Rev. Robert Hensley, president of the convention, offered a prayer before lunch for the 63 attendees.

Sincerest condolences to the family of Mrs. Eleanor (Thurber) Eglinas who died peacefully at home early on Thursday morning. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Smith Cemetery. Ellie was a classmate in the Class of 1964 at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School and has enjoyed visits from her fellow classmates throughout the past week.

Cranberry Day celebration was grand this year. There was a more than abundant harvest of cranberries, the last berry of the season in Aquinnah. The potluck was a wonderful evening of socializing with friends and neighbors. Traditional dance and drum was enjoyed by all. We were graced by the presence of the eldest tribal member attendee, Gladys Widdiss, who was photographed with the youngest tribal member, Amos Sauer.
