Community Baptist Church of Gay Head will be observing their very inspirational Candlelight Service at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Special music will be performed by members of the congregation. The candlelight service will be conducted by Rev. Roger H. Spinney, and we will look forward to singing Christmas Carols accompanied by our organist Mrs. Kathryn B. Stewart.

Ken Kaufman and his wife, Corinne Majno, renewed their wedding vows on Monday at their family home overlooking Vineyard Sound. The service was performed by Rev. Michael Allen who was accompanied by his wife, Rev. Priscilla Allen. Corinne was simply gorgeous in her wedding gown. Guests enjoyed the early evening festivities as well as photographs on the beach despite the coolness of the day. Videographer Ken Wentworth filmed the entire celebration and Elaine Diotima Vogel Vanderhoop photographed all.

August 12 is Native American Day in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as proclaimed on numerous occasions by sitting governors.

Welcome home to Capt. Ron Mac-Laren of the U.S. Naval Reserves who has served in Kuwait since September. Ron is director of health for the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) and it is anticipated that he will return to his duties within the week. Nina P. Butler, daughter of Lenny and Mallory Butler, arrived home on Tuesday from her freshman year studies at Wellesley College. Nina will be working at the Beach Plum Inn for the summer.

Mallory Butler recently returned from a 10-day visit with her granddaughter Maeve Sheehan and her parents Kevin and Jeffie at their home in Aspen, Colo. The Sheehans will arrive next week for their first visit of the summer season.
