The Island Community Chorus has issued a call for new singers as it begins a new semester of weekly rehearsals on Monday, Sept. 11, preparing for its December holiday concerts at the Old Whaling Church.

The chorus rehearses every Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the program room of the Edgartown Public Library. Dues for the 13-week semester are $40.

Incorporated in 1998, the chorus is led by William D. Peek Jr., who holds a master of music degree in choral conducting from Westminster Choir College. Over its three decades, the Chorus has performed music ranging from settings of Cole Porter and Bob Dylan to great choral pieces by Bach, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Haydn and Rutter.

No auditions are required — the organization asks only that singers commit to attending rehearsals.
