Well, the weekend weather was sort of a mixed bag — some rain, lots of humidity and a fair amount of sunshine. July turned out to be the second warmest month in the last decade. Regrettably, we have passed the peak of the summer season as some college students will begin leaving to return to school by next weekend.

After brief rain showers cleared, the weekend weather was delightful. The weather man tells us that we are on pace to be one of the warmest Julys on record. It was 92 degrees in the shade on Monday and Tuesday. The beaches were crowded all week with folks seeking relief. I understand August looks to be much cooler.

Welcome to summer and all the people it brings with it. Traffic is heavy everywhere, even over at the landfill. The weather has been muggy with rain two or three times a day leading up to the holiday. Just about every building in town is now occupied. The Blake pie gazebo reports a brisk business. Busses are comfortably full, planes and boats are crowded.

The Father’s Day weather was superb and dad got to relax, at least for one day. Many cookouts were held in his honor and for once he did not have to clean up afterward. Summer begins today; the buses will be operating on full summer schedule beginning tomorrow morning. It is also the official opening day for Lambert’s Cove beach when stickers will be required.
