Well, last weekend we enjoyed seasonable weather and some rain. The holiday spirit and parties are popping up all around us. Fire Chief Manuel Estrella of Indian Hill Road reports that the holiday lights were put on the tree at the Old County and State Road intersection recently. It will be lit each night until the New Year.

Marjorie Peirce Irving reports that the First Congregational Church Christmas Faire will be held tomorrow from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. They have handmade wreaths, table decorations, vintage jewelry, baked goods, their own jams, and fair trade gift baskets will be available for sale.

Holiday activity is humming at a fever pitch around town. Folks are gathering for Thanksgiving, coming from near and far to be with family and friends. The Steamship Authority and Cape Air will be real busy starting Tuesday transporting people to and from the Island.

The weekend weather was seasonable. Some ferries were cancelled on Friday due to strong winds that brought down thousands of leaves. The days are mighty short with a 4:30 p.m. sunset. Old Jack Frost has made a brief visit, but he says he will be back soon.

The weekend weather was mild and it allowed for plenty of outdoor work to get done. It’s time to turn off the outside water, put the hoses away and lower storm windows. Scarecrows and pumpkins dot the landscape these days in all parts of town.
