The Edgartown courthouse reopened Tuesday morning after a broken boiler had forced a closure for two weeks.

The Dukes County commission and county advisory board unanimously approved $50,000 to replace the boiler at the Edgartown courthouse.

The courthouse will remain shuttered for the rest of the week due to a broken boiler, court officials said.

The Edgartown courthouse has lost its only female, and only Portuguese-speaking trial court officer. Carla Damian-Gomes quit her position two weeks ago in order to care for her young son who was set to undergo surgery at a Boston hospital.


Some Edgartown courthouse offices will remain closed Thursday and Friday due to frigid temperatures caused by a broken heating system.
