The Oak Bluffs planning board Thursday signed off on a petition to change the name of Beach Road Extension to Anchor Way after residents explained years of Google Maps mix-ups.


The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has prohibited passing on state-controlled, bidirectional two-lane roads with speed limits under 45 mph, prompting confusion from drivers and town officials alike.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded Tisbury $78,750 to begin planning the reconstruction of the aging Beach Road seawall.

According to a statement from the town, the road will be down to one lane for part of the way from the drawbridge to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.
