Chilmark police are continuing to investigate a fatal moped accident on South Road that claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman and left a 20-year-old man with serious injuries.
A moped operator was seriously injured Friday afternoon after losing control and crashing near the seawall in Oak Bluffs.


In 2019, the Dukes County Sheriff’s Office communications center logged 332 reports of deer struck by cars around the Island, more than double the amount in 2014.


Minor motor vehicle accidents, including a moped accident and VTA mishap in Edgartown and rollover in West Tisbury, occupied Island police over the weekend.

An online fundraising campaign has begun for Isaac Higgins, 21, of Edgartown, who remains in stable but critical condition.
