After a summer season of bringing dancers to the Island, the Yard turns to its own for two shows on Saturday called A.R.T on the Vine: DanceTheYard.

The mercury was edging past 80 degrees when Le Patin Libre, the Montreal skating troupe that is redefining the art of dancing on ice, brought a new show to the Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena.

Le Patin Libre has performed on the Vineyard two times, during the cold winter months which seems fitting as it is an ice skating show.

The Yard exploded into its summer season last week, with a powerful program featuring three works in progress by young female dancers and choreographers from New York.

Flor de Toloache, the all-female Mariachi band, won hundreds of new fans Saturday night.

The Yard received grants from three sources totalling $1.1 million. The Boston-based Barr Foundation awarded the Chilmark dance colony $950,000 to help continue its year-round programming efforts.
