Randall Jette, a football standout from Martha’s Vineyard who went on to play for UMass, is headed to the NFL after signing with the Green Bay Packers.

Randall Jette has progressed from a Martha's Vineyard high school quarterback to a well respected Division 1 defensive player. And now he is a prospect for the National Football League draft.

All-Star Randall Jette

Martha’s Vineyard standout quarterback Randall Jette has been selected to play in this year’s Shriners All-Star football game. Mr. Jette, who racked up nearly 2,000 all-purpose yards for the Vineyarders this year and ran for 19 touchdowns, has committed to play at the University of Massachsuetts at Amherst next year where he received a full football scholarship. A hundred players from across Massachusetts are chosen to play in the Shriners game annually, which this year will be held on June 18 at Gillette Stadium.

High school senior Randall Jette received a full athletic scholarship to the University of Massachusetts, and has given them a verbal commitment for next year. Randall was the Vineyarders’ starting quarterback this year.

Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School quarterback Randall Jette walked off the practice field in the brisk fall air on Wednesday night after a hard practice that ran until almost 7 p.m. under the lights in preparation for tonight’s pivotal league game against Somerset at home. “Friday night is our Super Bowl,” Jette said.

Last year the Vineyarders lost 20-0 to Somerset and Jette is candid about what went wrong. “Me,” he said.
