With the Ocean View Restaurant and Tavern now demolished following a fire this winter, plans are in motion to build a replacement.
The proprietor of the Ocean View restaurant said he plans to rebuild as quickly as possible following the massive fire that left the building a total loss last Thursday.
The Ocean View restaurant was destroyed in a fire Thursday morning that drew a comprehensive response from Island fire departments.


Saturday was the last night at the Ocean View for the ownership of Ron and Peggy Jackson who have owned the popular bar and restaurant for 36 years. The place was packed, as always, this time with friends, family and former employees.


The Oak Bluffs selectmen have approved the transfer of an all-alcohol license from Ronald and Margaret Jackson to Michael Santoro, a local restaurateur and a selectman. The Jacksons have owned and operated the Ocean View for more than three decades.


The Ocean View Hotel, one of the landmarks of Oak Bluffs, was completely destroyed by fire in the early hours of this morning, as firemen from three towns fought in a brutal 7-degree temperature to contain the blaze.
