As gray seal pupping season comes to an end off the coast of Massachusetts and Maine, scientists are finishing a study.


Recent grants were awarded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association to develop and study ropeless or breakable rope fishing technology for lobstermen and other trap fishermen.

Responding to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s nearly 500-page draft environmental impact statement, NOAA fisheries said in a letter that many of the conclusions lack sufficient evidence and require further examination.
