Showing scenes of Island life, the Hot Tin Roof murals by Margot Datz now hang at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum’s Doherty Hall; a dedication and reception is Thursday evening.

One of the last relics of the Hot Tin Roof is for sale. Approximately 240 feet of an iconic mural painted by Margot Datz in the early 1990s is available for purchase.

Hot Tin Roof Under Agreement for Sale to Rosenthal Brothers

The Hot Tin Roof, the 26-year-old Vineyard nightclub that has weathered the bumps of age alongside the baby-boomers who were its first patrons in 1979, is slated to be sold to new owners before the end of the year.

Barry Rosenthal, a West Tisbury resident and marketing and communications executive who is president of B/R Creative, has signed an agreement to buy the Roof along with his brother, Dr. Arthur Rosenthal, a Ph.D. scientist who lives in the Boston area.

Just five years after a star-studded cast of investors revived the Hot Tin Roof, the legendary Edgartown nightclub partly owned by Carly Simon is closing down, the victim of a graying Island population and a hard-nosed town policy. The building is up for sale at a price of $1.1 million.
