The girls tennis team won a close but emphatic victory in the second round of the state playoffs Wednesday, defeating Old Rochester Regional High School of Mattapoisett.


Taking over coaching duties for a team with four consecutive state championships is a daunting task, but first year girls tennis coach Chris Scott said he isn’t afraid of sky-high expectations.


A signing ceremony was held at Vineyard Youth Tennis where Kelly Klaren was surrounded by family, friends, coaches and teammates.


Vineyard tennis players Kat Roberts, Victoria Scott and Lizzie Williamson have been named to the Boston Globe’s 2017 girls tennis all scholastic team.

The girls tennis team is the lone Vineyard contender in post-season play, as the players continue their march today to a third consecutive state championship. Boys tennis and boys baseball both lost in their playoff games on Thursday in hard fought, close games.
