A year after a fire leveled a historic barn to its foundation and claimed the lives of 90 animals at Flat Point Farm, a new flock of eight bluefaced leicester-montadale sheep have been introduced.


A new barn went up at Flat Point Farm in West Tisbury this week, seven months after a devastating fire destroyed the historic farm’s main barn.

The Hay Barn Hoedown at the Agricultural Hall saw an outpouring of good will and generosity for the Fischer family following a devastating fire at their West Tisbury farm last month.

In the days following the fire at Flat Point Farm, the Island community responded with multiple deliveries of hay and feed for the surviving animals, over $70,000 donated in an online fundraising drive.


A preliminary plan to reconfigure a family subdivision for Flat Point Farm in West Tisbury came before the Martha’s Vineyard Commission during a public hearing at their regular meeting Thursday evening.
