Edgartown police were led on a car chase that snaked through Upper Main Street and ended in the town cemetery on Thursday morning with an arrest, a vehicle tow and a few toppled tombstones — but no injuries.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Thursday arrested 31-year-old Hiago Ornela Da Silva, who is wanted for homicide in Brazil.

Radu-George Radoi, of Romania, was arrested around 6:45 a.m. Sunday and has been charged with defacing property, resisting arrest, assault, threat to commit a crime and two counts of breaking and entering.

Officials identified the 45-year-old man who went missing Sunday as Tafari Campbell, of Dumfries, Va. Mr. Campbell had served as the sous chef at the White House during the Obama presidency.

After 22 years with the Edgartown Police Department, officer Stephanie Immelt has chosen to retire, Chief Bruce McNamee told the select board on Monday.


A town building committee has proposed replacing the aging fire station structure with a new public safety building that would also include the neighboring police station.

A long-serving Edgartown police sergeant is slated to become the next police chief in Oak Bluffs after the town select board voted Monday afternoon to offer the job to Jonathan Searle.
