Poets, writers, community leaders and family members honored the life and legacy of Della Hardman on Saturday, with the 18th annual Della Hardman Day held in Ocean Park.

A group of friends sat in an East Chop backyard, shaded by beach trees and oaks to remember a woman who was a teacher, writer, activist, friend, and mother to many. The day was Della Hardman Day.

More than 100 people gathered to celebrate the legacy of Della Hardman on Saturday afternoon. Author Carol Anderson was the keynote speaker.
