John Zannini is holding a benefit photography and music extravaganza at Salt, on Lagoon Pond Road in Vineyard Haven, the weekend of August 10 through 12.

The high school band Era of Good Feelings headlined the scene Tuesday at Alex's Place when Ernie Boch Jr. presented a check for $5,000.


Tony Lombardi, the former director of Alex’s Place at the YMCA, died last Friday morning at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. He was 59.

Alex’s Place, a community center where teenagers can draw comics, learn to play the ukulele and escape the numerous pressures of Island life, has a new director with a new philosophy for the space.

At the Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena on Friday night, skaters of all levels hit the ice for a benefit to support Tony Lombardi, director of Alex's Place, who suffered a stroke on Dec. 23.


It’s a little after noon on a wintry Wednesday, and Alex’s Place is hopping. The YMCA teen center, made possible by a gift from the Gagnon Foundation, is a growing hub for Island adolescents.
