Earlier this year Emily deBettencourt was named Oak Bluffs harbormaster, taking over for Todd Alexender who retired. Ms. deBettencourt started working on the harbor in high school.

Emily deBettencourt was named Oak Bluffs harbor master Tuesday night, with a unanimous vote by the select board.

The construction of a harbor at this place was authorized by chapter 441 of the acts of 1898, the appropriation therefore being $5,000.

Oak Bluffs harbor master Todd Alexander will retire after 29 years on the job, it was announced at the town select board meeting Tuesday. The retirement is effective July 1; Mr. Alexander will work part time this summer.
