Former Oak Bluffs fire Chief John Rose was arraigned Thursday on two new charges in Edgartown District Court.
Mr. Rose, who was already accused of videotaping a woman during sex without her knowledge, pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempting to commit a crime.
Mr. Rose, who appeared at the arraignment in person, was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to have another hearing on Nov. 7.
The new charges stem from an incident in December 2023, where investigators say Mr. Rose attempted to photograph or videotape a nude or partially nude person, according to documents filed with the court. The second charge was for attempting to pose or exhibit a child in a state of nudity or sexual conduct.
Prosecutors did not go into details about Mr. Rose new case at the arraignment.
Mr. Rose was arrested on his initial case in January after a woman told state police that Mr. Rose secretly taped her while they had sex. The investigation was initiated the month before for an alleged secret recording of a child.
Mr. Rose led the Oak Bluffs fire department for seven years before resigning in the wake of a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former administrator who claimed Mr. Rose was harassing her.
After Oak Bluffs, Mr. Rose became a West Tisbury firefighter. He was suspended after the district court granted a harassment prevention order against him.
