We have some excellent news to report. Benny, the ragdoll mix cat, is out on a trial adoption and we’re all hoping it sticks. Keep charming them with your outstanding personality Benny.
Our pet of the week is Nellie, a 12-year-old female, dilute calico cat. Nellie is a very sweet girl, but she has been rather shy here at the shelter. She is frightened and confused but should blossom into her true self once she’s comfortable in your home. Come by and meet her and see if you’re meant for each other. If you’re interested in Nellie her adoption fee has been waived.
Anyone looking for a Guinea pig or two? Rocco is a short-haired, tri-color boy who is about six years old and really loves his veggies. Meadow is a long-haired, female tri-color who is only a year old. Both are very sweet and have been hand-raised. Either one, or both, are ready and waiting to join you in your home.
The next nail clinic takes place this Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. until noon — walks-ins only, $20 cash or check. The date of the next visit by All Pet’s Medical Center is May 11. If you would like to schedule an appointment for your pet please contact them at 508-743-8338.
We are also looking for jewelry donations for our annual Garden Party. We will accept any type of jewelry in any condition. Donations should be dropped off at the shelter during business hours.
Did you know that while dogs are at the shelter, training is conducted as needed. When the dog is adopted, the new owner receives one free training session courtesy of dog trainer Jeremy Jones. We also provide puppy kindergarten classes and “AKC Good Citizen” training.
The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours: 508-627-8662.
