We have been experiencing seesaw weather. The seesaw has been very wet. Fairer days ahead.

Sofia Anthony informs me that the First Congregational Church on State Road in West Tisbury will host the next Neighborhood Convention on Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. Bring a sack lunch and enjoy the talk by Reverends Hus, Winter and Newton. Everyone is invited.

Do not forget that my American Legion Post 257 in Vineyard Haven has Bingo every Monday evening at 6 p.m.

Dolores Borza of Homegrown Tours, our Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce and David Bigelow are offering a wonderful trip Oct. 14 through Oct. 16 to visit all the places on the Island where Jaws was filmed. Tickets are $85 per person. Book yours now; seats are going quickly.

One of my favorite experiences is National Fossil Day. This free event will be held Saturday, Sept. 30 at Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs from 2 to 6 p.m. All ages are welcome. I’ll see you there.

On that same day, the annual LadyFest will happen on Circuit avenue. This musical fundraiser was created years ago by Rose Guerin and Kelly Feirtag, with support from The Ritz Cafe. Money raised will be donated to our Connect to End the Violence program at Martha’s Vineyard Community Service. Musicians playing rock, soul, electronic and pop will have you dancing and singing along. The after-party will be at Larkin Stallings’s Ritz Cafe. I’ll see you there.

My favorite saint’s day is Oct. 4 in honor of St. Francis, most famous for his love of animals. You all know my appreciation of that.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Armando Abundiz and Linda Tydings Massaro on Sept. 27. On Oct. 3, Bill Maciel takes the cake. Many happy returns.
