Crescent Moon, Jupiter and Saturn

Mornings offer the best time to look for planets and the moon in the coming week. The easiest and brightest planets, Jupiter and Saturn, are visible well before sunrise rising in the eastern sky. Jupiter is the brightest and it hovers over the southeastern sky. The planet Saturn is to the right and nearby. Both planets are in the zodiacal constellation Capricornus.

The scene gets even better early next week. On Tuesday morning the crescent moon joins together with the two planets to form a line. On Wednesday morning the moon appears underneath Saturn and then on Thursday morning, the moon appears under Jupiter.

Last year Jupiter and Saturn were so close together. Well, Jupiter has been marching east, away from the ringed planet.
