The Martha’s Vineyard Hospital maternity department received high marks in a recent Center for Disease Control and Prevention survey of maternity practices.

According to a press release, the hospital posted a rating of 98 out of 100. The national average was 87 points, and the national average was 79.

The maternity practices in infant nutrition and care survey is a voluntary survey measuring feeding practices, policies, and staff training, More than 2,650 facilities participated in the survey.

Nurse manager Joyce Capobianco said the score reflects many aspects of care, from labor and delivery to breast-feeding assistance and staff training.
