Sometimes puppets are just a fun diversion and a creative way to tell a story. Next Saturday, June 15, puppets will also help disabled children in Zambia.
The musical puppet show of Cupid and Psyche will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at the Tisbury Water Works and benefit the African Artists’ Community Development Project. A puppet parade starts things off, featuring Bella escorting Yamanja, Brazilian/African goddess of the sea, from the water to the Waterworks. The show will utilize both inside and outside venues. There will also be an original puppet show by 13-year-old Justine Cassel and African crafts for sale.
The Tisbury Water Works are located at 400 West Spring street — or just look for the Peace, Love & Puppets sign.
Cost is $10 a person, $20 for families. Call Marsha Winsryg at 508-560-2620 for more information.
Rain date is Sunday, June 16.
