West Tisbury has reappointed Ernest Thomas as the town representative to the Martha’s Vineyard Commission, following a vote by the select board Wednesday.
A diminished West Tisbury select board debated Wednesday whether to call a special election to replace late board member Kent Healy.
The two remaining members of the West Tisbury select board are considering their options for an election to replace Kent Healy, who died Oct. 31 with nearly a year and a half of his term remaining.
Still reeling from the death Sunday of their colleague and friend Kent Healy, the remaining members of the West Tisbury select board met briefly Wednesday. “As you’ll notice, there’s a board member missing this evening,” said board chairman Skipper Manter.
The West Tisbury selectman who had been a pillar of the rural agricultural town for decades, died Sunday at his home after a brief illness. He was 89.
State Road restaurant takes a few weeks off every winter, but this year’s closure will start immediately and last until March. Owners Mary and Jackson Kenworth asked the West Tisbury select board’s permission to close.
