Tisbury voters headed to the polls in steady numbers Tuesday to make a final decision on the $55 million school renovation that has been a magnet for debate in the Island’s main port town. Polls are open at the town Emergency Services Facility until 8 p.m. Masks are required.

Tisbury voters finally said yes to a new school at their annual town election Tuesday, approving a $55 million renovation plan by a landslide and capping years of debate and anguish.

2022

Tisbury voters elected a new select board member and gave a final, resounding stamp of approval to the bill to create a Martha’s Vineyard Housing Bank in a quiet town election Tuesday that saw low turnout. Just 552 of the town’s 3,710 voters cast ballots.

Select board member Jeff Kristal will not seek re-election this spring. Mr. Kristal, an innkeeper and town businessman, has served three terms but not consecutively. The annual town election is May 24.

Tisbury has set its town meeting for April 12 and its town election May 24. Nomination papers are due April 5.
