Edgartown selectmen Monday renewed Flatbread Company’s alcohol license after voicing concerns about the restaurant’s hours.

Town administrator Pamela Dolby said that last summer the pizza restaurant by the airport kept “sporadic hours” and closed for the season before its announced Sept. 30 closing date.

Edgartown will be getting two new liquor stores, as the selectmen Monday approved seasonal all-alcohol licenses for package stores on Main street and in Nevin Square.
The 65 Main street store, Edgartown Spirits, will be operated by manager Barbara Courtney. Son Ted Courtney, who spoke on his mother’s behalf because she could not attend the meeting, said his mother planned to open a store with a “bright, welcoming atmosphere” that offers artisanal liquor and microbrews, as well as supplies for outdoor entertaining, including picnic baskets and kitchen utensils.

The Edgartown selectmen have suspended an Edgartown package store’s license for 10 days after repeated violations for selling liquor to minors.

The board voted at their meeting Monday to suspend the liquor license for Sophia’s One Stop Mart on Upper Main street from August 15 through August 24, acting on the recommendation of police chief Antone Bettencourt.

West Tisbury selectmen took a historic step on Wednesday, unanimously voting to approve the town’s first beer and wine license. State Road restaurant, which spearheaded the campaign to bring wine and beer sales to the town, applied for and was granted a year-round license.

Owner Mary Kenworth said the restaurant would close only during the month of March.

The license must still be approved by the state Alcohol Beverage Control Commission before beer and wine may be served.

Edgartown restaurant Il Tesoro at the Terrace is in danger of having its liquor license suspended.

The South Summer street restaurant, located inside the Charlotte Inn, was supposed to reopen by Feb. 5 following a short closure. As of now, it remains shuttered. Selectman Margaret Serpa said at an alcohol hearing Monday that if the restaurant was not reopened by Saturday, March 30, the selectmen would suspend the year-round alcohol license.

Il Tesoro owner A.J. Black did not attend the meeting.
