The Katharine Cornell Theatre atop Tisbury Town Hall on Spring street remains the daily work space of two finance office workers who were relocated in 2020 to allow for Covid-19 distancing downstairs.

All the Women in My Family Sing: Women Write the World is an anthology featuring 69 female authors. On Wednesday, August 22, the voices of four of those authors will join together, not in song, but rather as part of a panel discussion.

2013

The first annual Keren Or Literary Festival welcomes authors Julia Newman, Sarah Caravallo, Estelle Ana Baca and Paul West to the Katharine Cornell Theatre on Spring street in Vineyard Haven this Sunday, August 18, at 6 p.m. Keren Or is the only center in Israel dedicated exclusively to the education and care of children and young adults who are blind or visually impaired and have additional multiple disabilities. Support for the festival will go to the Keren Or speech therapy program.

The Katharine Cornell Theatre in Vineyard Haven will be pulsating with the beat of world jazz sounds as pianist Paul Thurlow brings friends Nancy Jephcote and Alejandro Carreno to the stage tonight at 8 p.m.

Mr. Thurlow’s music is described as having a Latin/Balkan/Celtic rhythm, and his compositions often feature his distinctive tenor voice. Mr. Thurlow is currently a member of the Flying Elbows. Ms. Jephcote will open with a set of songs.

Jim Thomas and his Spirituals Choir will perform on Saturday, June 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the Katharine Cornell Theatre on Spring street in Vineyard Haven. The choir is in its ninth year and is the offspring of the Martha’s Vineyard NAACP. The performance is titled, Songs From the Field: The Underground Railroad.

The choir performs at many venues around the Island and is made up of summer residents and year-rounders. They perform sitting down as the slaves did, and only with percussion accompaniment.

Building on Vineyard Haven’s recent selection as one of 12 nationally designated small town ArtPlaces for 2013, the community is invited to a public hearing to determine if the town of Tisbury should apply for a state-designated cultural district and adopt a Vineyard Haven Harbor Cultural District resolution. The Vineyard Haven Harbor Cultural District Partnership is looking for public input regarding the designation. The hearing is on Tuesday, June 18 at 6 p.m. at the Katharine Cornell Theatre, 54 Spring street in Vineyard Haven.
