Boxing Day Yoga Benefit

The day after Christmas can also be a day to de-clutter and renew by bringing boxes of clothes or extra gifts to the Yoga Collective at Island Cohousing on Rock Pond Road in West Tisbury.

Free Yoga

The Yoga Collective is in the giving mood and is offering a week of free yoga to all new students. The free classes are from Dec. 16 to 22 and are unlimited. Now is the time to find out what all the fuss is about and which type of yoga — Anusara, Vinyasa, flow, power — is right for you.

Turkey Yoga

To limber up for Thanksgiving, the Yoga Collective is offering a free yoga class from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day at Island Cohousing, 11 Rock Pond Road, West Tisbury. Nothing like some down dogs and a bit of pigeon pose to make the stuffing go down easier.

The class is for all ages and all levels, so yoga time can still be family time.

Mollie Doyle and Sian Williams Bassett are joining together to celebrate the British tradition of Boxing Day, offering a free yoga class on Sunday, Dec. 26 to benefit the MV Community Services Thrift Shop. Bring your unwanted Christmas gifts or a small donation and they’ll pass them along to the thrift shop.

The class is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at The Yoga Collective at Island Cohousing, 11 Rock Pond Road, West Tisbury.

All levels are welcome and wanted.

Nine months ago a light bulb went off in yoga teacher Sian Williams’s head. She lived at the West Tisbury Cohousing complex and, as a resident, the common house was available for her to use. Finally, she thought, a beautiful, available space for a yoga collective.

Yoga for Arthritis

A yoga for arthritis class begins on Monday, Jan. 31 and continues on Mondays and Fridays for four weeks.

The class is designed to help one move more freely, improve balance and increase range of motion with simple yoga alignment techniques. This yoga practice is suitable for anyone and can even be done while seated.

Classes will be taught by Jane Norton and held at the Yoga Collective at Island Cohousing Complex at 11 Rock Pond Road in West Tisbury.
