Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. Snider of Manchester by-the-Sea are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Heather Lynn Snider to Shaun Joe DePreist. Shaun is the son of Bernadette Crossland and Ashley DePriest, of Oak Bluffs.
Ms. Snider is a graduate of Manchester High School and Endicott College, with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. She is the director of the Manchester Playground and the director of the Hornets After School Program, in the town of Manchester-by-the-Sea. She is the granddaughter of Ruth Snider of Vineyard Haven.
Alexandra Susan Weisman, a daughter of Suzanne Steinfeld Weisman and Hugh Stix Weisman of New York city and Chilmark, was married on Sunday, Oct. 11 to Malcolm Hume McDowell 3rd, a son of Kathleen Otto McDowell and The Very Rev. Malcolm Hume McDowell Jr. of Harwich.
Cynthia and Ted Hubbard, of Topsfield and Chappaquiddick, are delighted to announce the marriage of their daughter, Ashley Conant, to Jamie Harmon, son of Dr. John and Gail Harmon. The couple married on Jan. 18, 2009 in Anguilla, British Overseas Territory. Both the bride and bridegroom summered on Chappaquiddick as children. They met four years ago on the Chappy beach in front of the bride’s parents’ home.
On a brilliant August 8 afternoon, friends and family gathered on a high hilltop at Champlain Orchards in Shoreham, Vt., to witness the marriage of Andrea Scott and Bill Suhr. The fiddle music of Becky Tracy could be heard as Andrea and her parents, Marie and Jonathan Scott, walked together up through rows of apple trees. They were escorted to the wedding site by flower girls Eva Stanley and Charlotte Scott, and ring bearers Tristan Scott and Theo Stanley.
Olukemi (Kemi) Folasade Ogidan, the daughter of Jacqueline E. Ogidan and Richardson D. Ogidan of Providence, R.I., was married Sept. 6 in Oak Bluffs to Jeffrey Hines Tignor, the son of Drs. Eleanor Q. Tignor and Gregory H. Tignor of Hamden, Conn. The Rev. Andrew Fiddler, retired rector at Trinity Episcopal Church on the Green in New Haven, Conn., officiated at Union Chapel, a nonsectarian place of worship owned by the Martha’s Vineyard Preservation Trust.
Emily MacRae and Michael Dwyer were married on the evening of July 18 at the Chappaquiddick Beach Club with family and friends gathered around them.
The bride is the daughter of Peter MacRae of Chappaquiddick and Julia Wells of West Tisbury. Her father is the manager of the Chappaquiddick Beach Club; her mother is the editor of the Vineyard Gazette. The bridegroom is the son of Jim and Rita Dwyer of West Newbury. His father is self-employed and his mother is retired.
Since the age of two Satonya Hill has made her yearly visit to ride her favorite golden horse at the Flying Horses carousel in Oak Bluffs. Part of the magic for Satonya and her family was that every time her friends took their first ride on the Flying Horses, they would catch the brass ring.
Coburn Darling Everdell Jr. and Alice Lillian Brooks Askew were married in Memphis, Tenn., on Oct. 11, 2008.
The bride is the daughter of Mark West Askew and Rebecca Berlin Askew of Memphis. Her father is a founding partner of Askew, Hargraves, Harcourt, Engineers; her mother is an interior designer. Her grandparents are Gene Berlin and Lee Askew, both of Memphis.
The bride graduated from the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University with a degree in vocal performance. She is an actress.
