Island Community Chorus in Holiday Concert

The Island Community Chorus sounded its first note back in 1996. Today, under the direction of Peter Boak, it’s a veritable Island institution. Anyone can join, and no auditions are required. But that’s not to say the choir lacks talent.

The Island is filled with marvelous singers; they lurk behind bank teller windows, serve fried fish sandwiches all summer long, bag your groceries, plant your flowers, say hello (in tune) at the post office, ferry line, and from porches galore.

Island Community Chorus Takes the Stage

This weekend, the Island Community Chorus, under the direction of Peter Boak, will present two performances of its spring 2012 concert program, Beethoven and Friends, at the Performing Arts Center of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School.

The chorus is made up of one hundred singers who have been rehearsing weekly since Jan. 9.

The concerts are at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, and 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 1.
