Henry R. Gaudet of West Tisbury and formerly of Woonsocket, R.I. died on June 20. He was 95.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a dedicated Red Sox and New England Patriots fan who read the entire sports section of the newspaper every day. He stayed active by running and jogging and he rode his bicycle until he was 91.

He enjoyed coffee hour in Woonsocket with several other retired gentlemen, including the former mayor of the city.

Henry moved to Martha’s Vineyard, where he was known as Grandpa. He made several new friends at his favorite lunch spot. He loved being outside, tending to chickens at his home in West Tisbury. He especially enjoyed walking and playing ball with his dog Ludo.

He is survived by five stepchildren: Faith Trudel and her husband Richard of Taunton, Charline Peterson and her husband Jonathan Goldwater of Hutto, Tex., Brian Francis and his wife Alicia of Bellingham, Wash., Lorijane Graham of Naples, Fla. and Wendy Francis of West Tisbury. He is also survived by his close friend Donald Ward of West Tisbury.

Henry had 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Faith in 2017, and by eight sisters and four brothers.

Services will be held privately.
