Doris (Issokson) Shumrak died peacefully on August 6.

Doris was born in 1927 on Martha’s Vineyard, the daughter of Israel and Dina (Cristol) Issokson of Vineyard Haven. She grew up on the Island. She was musically inclined and loved to play both the violin and the piano. As the daughter of a tailor, she learned to sew and was quite the seamstress in her lifetime.

She moved to Boston when she was 18 to pursue a career in nursing. In Boston, she met her husband-to-be Carl. They fell in love and had three beautiful children that they raised in both Framingham and Natick. Doris loved her Jewish heritage and spoke of it often. She will be missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

She was predeceased by her husband Carl and sister Alice (Issokson) Shapiro. She was also sister to Samuel Issokson and Yale Issokson, mother of Ellen (Shumrak) Goldstein and her late husband Joseph Goldstein, mother to Peter Shumrak and his wife Jeanne Shumrak of Natick, and mother of the late Daniel Shumrak. She was Nana D. to Jonathan Shumrak and his wife Shannon Shumrak of Framingham, Bonnie Shumrak of Natick, Marissa Goldstein of Framingham, Cory Goldstein of Framingham, Cara DeMango and her husband Brendan DeMango of Medford and great-grandmother to Luke Shumrak of Framingham.

Funeral services and shiva arrangements will be private.
