As a young boy,Roger Feldman was my idol. I remember him taking me for a ride in his Jaguar on route 128 and showing me how he could hit 100 mph. I recall that he was a sailor and that he manufactured soap products for cleaning airplanes. We lived on Garland rd in Newton at the time. I think I had a crush on Judy. Roger had a beautiful family and probably more appreciated now as I look back to events in my life that moulded who I am today. When we next drive over the Tappen zee bridge on the way to visiting our children in NJ , I will think of the Feldman Family. Love; ted wasserman

The Feldmans and the Flaschner families, like so many others are interwoven to this day. I grew up feeling like the Feldmans were my second family while visiting them in Weston from Waban where we often gathered to laugh and swim together, and again at the Vineyard. Roger almost killed me on a sailboat coming back in a lightening storm from one place to another. We always went there to visit after I came home from summer camp. My parents always said, why own a summer home when the Feldmans were so generous with theirs. Beazie loved to visit and get a chance to see their neighbor, Beverly Sills the famous opera singer. I went to dance college with Judy one summer in high school. We both were passionate about the importance of dance/ movement of any kind in one's life, and so was Shirley. My parents were vacationing together with Roger and Shirley when my father suffered a tragic and fatal heart attack in Feb. 1976. I will never forget the day Shirley and Roger escorted my mother back home and I greeted them at my childhood home. Their strength and genuine love and support for me throughout their lives was a source of great solace when my father died so suddenly and so young. I also recall my mother being with Shirley in a Boston hospital years later when Roger tragically passed away on the very same day I returned from a sabbatical from far away. My mother was devoted to Shirley and she to her. Equally sobering was the way Shirley supported my sisters and me during my mother's battle against breast cancer in 2000 and 2001. I was always in love with Michael. Who was not? What others may not know is that way back even before my father passed away and I found myself in Wisconsin for college, Nancy and David welcomed me into their home and treated me like family when they resided in Milwaukee, Wisconsin during my first years away from home. My heart is so full of gratitude and love for the Feldmans. I write this for Roger and Shirley's grandchildren and great grandchildren now and hope that they know that I would be happy to share more memories if they should ever need to hear the stories. The Feldmans and my family were interwoven for as long as I can remember; like so many lucky families. We used to gather in Weston for laughter, swimming and playfulness with Roger and their brown poodle dog Coco. I adored Michael, who didn't? Judy and I developed a passion for dance and attended Connecticut College together during high school. Shirley shared our love for dance/movement of any kind and its importance in one's life. Nancy and David treated me like family when I found myself away from home for the first time in Wisconsin in 1970 and they lived in Milwaukee where I often visited. Roger almost killed me sailing in his boat during a lightening storm on the Vineyard; scary but energizing and what adventures we always had together. My father was playing tennis with Roger on vacation in Feb. 1976 in Florida when he suffered a tragic and fatal heart attack. I will never forget how Shirley and Roger escorted and supported my mother back to Newton and continued to support all of us. My mother was with Shirley when Roger suffered his death in a Boston hospital years later. She was devoted to Shirley and she to her. I will also never forget how Shirley helped my sisters and me during my mother's battle with breast cancer in 2000 and 2001. Shirley's continued guidance, support and LOVE after my mother died was a source of continuous strength for me. My last visit with Shirley was shortly after Judy's accident but before her death when Shirley was graciously showing my husband and me art work in her condo and how she asked us all about ourselves and our children as if no time or difficulties had transpired. I will treasure my memories of Shirley as I have all of my life for Michael, Judy and Roger. They are all an inspiration to me now and forever. Thank you for sharing them with me.
