Pieter Moen Hahn of Bradenton, Fla., died on August 25 after a long illness. He was 60.

The world has lost a wonderful loved one who was treasured by family and friends, and a fantastic travel agent with a pouch of “pixie dust” to help fix emergencies and find impossible reservations,

Born on July 5, 1954 in Wareham, and raised on Cape Cod in Woods Hole, Pieter also resided in Hatchville, Sandwich and Hyannis; Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Barbados. He was a graduate of Falmouth High School, class of 1973, and attended the Eaglebrook School in Deerfield.

He was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth Alton, his father Jan Hahn, an older brother Henry Fay Mixter Jr., his maternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin Harrison Alton and his paternal grandparents, Pieter Hahn and Lijntje Piet in the Netherlands. He is survived by his brother Benjamin Alton Mixter and his wife Terri of Big Pine Key, Fla., three sisters: Tineke Hahn of Stuart, Fla., Erika Hahn of Falmouth, and Heidi Parshley Hahn Lepage of Uxbridge; an aunt Alison Alton Robb of North Falmouth, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his honorary adopted big sister, Dee Ferreira, his honorary adopted brothers Ron Jarvis and Phillip Thrapp, and his wonderful colleagues at Fantasy Travel.

He loved the sea and sailing with his father, mother and sisters into his 20s. Though officially born on July 5, he was thrilled that the whole nation helped him celebrate his birthday on July 4.

Long live Pieter’s favorite sayings: “Life’s A Trip — Take One” and especially “Go Rays.”

At his request, there will be no services. Celebrations of his life will be held at dates to be announced later. One will be on Anna Maria Island, Fla., in mid November, and the other on Nobska Beach in Woods Hole at a date to be announced. His ashes will be scattered to the seven seas and four winds.

To remember him, give a flower to a loved one or friend; call that relative, friend, or classmate you haven’t spoken to in way too long; or make a donation in his name to your favorite church, charity, service or veterans organization.
