Hello Mards, I have been in Cromwell, CT for the last 8 days, attending my father-in-law's passing, which happened on Sunday, and awaiting his wake and funeral, tomorrow and Friday. Please know that I am so with you in spirit and in experience. Although it has been many many years, you all are such a big part of my past and happy memories. Marty and I met a long time ago playing the golf at the Edgartown Club. I can't say we were ever close, though I wish I could. Through the years in roundabout ways, I heard of the difficulties he endured with his family and and could not believe that this pleasant, transparent, generous man, had so heavy a load to shoulder. May he rest now, in peace, I will remember him.

How sorry we were to here of Marty's passing. I will miss seeing him driving in his cars, and stopping to talk about the neighborhood. He was such a big part of the East Chop community, but his spirit will live with us forever. Peace….

I have know Martin all of my life as his family and ours were very close. I remember fondly when he had cable tv and invited me over to watch the Whalers. I also treasured his wisdom and advice as I grew up. I always knew that inside my birthday card would be a pair of Whaler's tickets and so appreciated his generosity and thoughtfulness. I had not seen him in years as he lived on MV and I in VT. I know he took pride in the way he cared for the love of his life and was glad that my Mom was able to visit him last August. My sister sent me a picture and we will frame it and place it with pictures of my late Dad. I hope he and Dad are drinking a beer and playing cribbage the way they did on many motorcycle trips to Vermont. May you be at peace and golfing the greens with gusto in heaven.

Marty was our close friend and neighbor for many years in Windsor, CT, and our kids were raised together and are still close. Our sorrow at his passing is beyond belief. My golf buddy and cocktail companion is gone, but never forgotten.

I believe the late Mr Mard was a cousin of mine through my Grandmother Martina Mard Falhstrom of Moline, Ill. She was born in Smaland,Sweden C.1875.
