Augustina Roberta Lamb, wife of 68 years to Beatie Crume Lamb, died Nov. 12 in Southern Pines, N.C. She was 88.

Mrs. Lamb was born Feb. 15, 1925 in Vineyard Haven to Manuel Jr. and Teresa Frank.

Mrs. Lamb graduated from Tisbury High School in 1942, excelling in all sports. She worked at Aerovox Electric Mfg. in New Bedford during World War II, returning to Martha’s Vineyard in 1943 to work as head of the bookkeeping department of the Martha’s Vineyard National Bank for 17 years.

Augustina married Beatie Crume Lamb on Dec. 29, 1944, and in 1966 the Lambs moved to Taunton, where Mrs. Lamb worked for Reed and Barton for 20 years in their comptroller’s office.

The Lambs retired to Southern Pines in 1985 where Augustina was an avid golfer at Pinehurst Country Club. In recent years dementia kept Augustina from enjoying the game she loved, and in October of 2012 she suffered a stroke.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Beatie Crume Lamb; a sister, Constance Iadicicco and her husband, Roberto; a brother, Theodore Frank and his wife, Margaret; 15 nieces and nephews, and 28 grandnieces and nephews. Augustina was preceded in death by her sister Florence Borges and brothers Manuel Frank 3rd and Francis Frank.

A visitation period will be held in the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs on Monday, Nov. 18 from 1 to 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home officiated by the Rev. Roger Spinney. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery on State Road in Vineyard Haven. A funeral service was also held in Southern Pines on Nov. 15 at Boles Funeral Home.
