Phyllis (Guilford) Davidson of West Newton died peacefully on June 28. She was 98. She adored Martha’s Vineyard, where she happily spent many summers with family and friends.

Mostly she loved Edgartown and the harbor, Bend in the Road Beach and sharing her enjoyment of the Island with others. She fondly told stories of her days as a girl riding her bike through town to work at Ralph’s Kafé and, often, finished her tales with, “The Island gets in your blood!”

Phyllis was known for her sense of humor, an expressive nature, a passion for politics and the delivery of blockbuster one-liners. She was a bright woman, a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Charles W. Davidson, seven sisters and brothers and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her son Geoffrey and his wife Gloria; her beloved granddaughter Gillian and her husband Hayami Arakawa; her niece Natalie Davidson; and many other nieces, nephews and family members.

Her ashes will be scattered over the place she loved.
