Alyce J. Sylvia died Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Windemere Nursing Home. She was 93.

She was the beloved wife of the late James Sylvia and the loving mother of Melinda J. Sylvia of Martha’s Vineyard and Betty Jane Amaral of Dartmouth. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Jamie Sylvia and Lyndsey Amaral; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sylvia was the grandmother of the late Christopher Sylvia and sister of the late John Joaquin, Elsie J. Ventura, Rose J. Rego, Dorothy Drouin and Louise J. Campus.

Mrs. Sylvia was the daughter of the late Rose (daSilva) and the Antone J. Sylvia. She was born in New Bedford and has lived in this area all her life.

Mrs. Sylvia’s service will be Friday, Jan. 11 at noon at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth street in New Bedford. Interment will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home before her service from 11 a.m. to noon. Family and friends are invited.
