Lois Winslow Merritt Wochomurka of Brentwood, Tenn., died Friday, Dec. 14, on a beautiful bright and sunny Tennessee winter morning. She was 84.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Charles Franklin Wochomurka Jr.; her sons, Charles (Chip) Franklin Wochomurka 3rd and wife Jayne of Franklin, Tenn., and Allan Ramsay Wochomurka of Portland, Me.; her daughter, Elizabeth Wochomurka Baugh and husband Mark of Piperton, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Peterson and husband Walter of Naples, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Edward Lester Merritt of Fall River; and her sister, Virginia Child of Bethesda, Md.

Lois was born in Fall River in 1928. She earned her bachelor of arts in June 1949 from the Rhode Island School of Design and married later that month. Lois and Charlie enjoyed over 63 years of devotion and adventure, living on East Chop, and in Levittown, New York; West Willington and Weston, Conn.; Brentwood, Knoxville, Tullahoma, Germantown and Collierville, Tenn.; and Destin, Fla. They also traveled frequently.

She was an avid reader and cook.

A memorial service will be held on Jan. 5, 2013, at the First United Church at 3410 Granny White Pike in Nashville, Tenn., at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at cremationsocietyoftn.com.
