Judith (Judy) Barney Morse, 70, of West Tisbury, formerly of Attleboro, died on March 27 at the Oak Bluffs Hospital of injuries sustained earlier that day in an automobile accident.

Judy was born on August 23, 1941 in Waterbury, Conn. to Louise Thomas, who resides in Windermere in Oak Bluffs, and the late Haskell Barney. She was raised in Attleboro and was a 1959 Attleboro High graduate and later attended Hood College in Fredrick, Md. While employed at Leach and Gardner in Attleboro, she met and subsequently married Warren Morse in 1963. They were happily married for 49 years. They made their home in Farmington, Conn. for several years prior to returning to Attleboro in 1971 where they remained until retiring to Martha’s Vineyard in 2004.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by her two sisters, Susan Papanicolaou and her husband, Andreas, of Minneapolis, Minn., Mary Grienier and her husband, Paul, of New Bedford, and her three children, Karen Girouard, and her husband, William, of North Attleboro, Christopher and his wife, Sheila, of West Tisbury, and Robin Nagle and her husband, Kevin, of West Tisbury. Everyone, especially her eight grandchildren, will dearly miss her.

Judy was a member of the West Tisbury Congregational Church, the Garden Club, and several bridge groups. She was known to all as a caring person who delighted in providing happiness through her love of cooking. Additionally, she loved to read and the competition of any game, especially when challenged by a grandchild.

Immediate plans are private, however a celebration of her life will be held in early summer. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the West Tisbury Library, 1042 State Road, West Tisbury, MA 02575.
