Gudrun Daub Dunkl, 89, Was a Quiet Island Spirit

Gudrun (Daub) Dunkl of Old Farm Road, Chilmark, died Jan. 27 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was 89.

She was born in New York city Oct. 14, 1914, the daughter of the late Frank H. Daub Sr. and Valerie (Chlupsa) Daub. She was the wife of the late Heinz Dunkl.

Mrs. Dunkl was a graduate of Columbia University and Hunter College in New York. She was employed as a secretary for the Fisch-Scharmun Company, an optical importer and manufacturer in New Rochelle, N.Y. for 33 years prior to her retirement in 1971. Following retirement, Mrs. Dunkl moved to the Vineyard, where she remained a resident for 33 years.

She is survived by three children: Heidi Dunkl, Peter Dunkl and Frank Dunkl, all of Chilmark, and was the sister of the late Frank H. Daub Jr.
