Ruth Martin Blasi, 88, Was Native of New York

Ruth Martin Blasi of Edgartown died Sunday, Sept. 7, at Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Oak Bluffs. She was 88.

Ruth was born in Schenectady, N.Y., on March 29, 1915 to the late John and Irene M. Martin. She was graduated from St. Agnes Academy in Schenectady and from Fairmont Junior College in Washington, D.C.

Ruth was married on Feb. 5, 1936 to the late Peter Frances Blasi, Esq. They lived in Tarrytown and White Plains, N.Y. She spent most of her professional life as a paralegal supporting her husband in his law practice. She was an active member of the American Red Cross and the Exchange Club.

She is survived by her two daughters, Helen E. Blasi and Ann B. Pellegrino, both of Edgartown; two grandchildren Mrs. Diane Pearlstein of Newtown, Conn., and Mark Iannome of White Plains, N.Y.; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Parker Pearlstein, and one nephew, John Martin of Concord.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at St. Andrew's Church on North Summer street in Edgartown with the Rev. Robert Edmunds officiating. Interment will follow in the New Westside Cemetery, Edgartown. Donations may be made in Ruth's memory to Hospice of Martha's Vineyard, P.O.
