Francis Suarez, 86, Was Veteran of World War II

Francis A. (Tony) Suarez died July 1 in the Life Care Center of Raynham; he was 86. Born in Boston, Mr. Suarez grew up and lived in Cambridge for more than 70 years. He and his wife moved to Oak Bluffs in 1991 after his retirement.

He was a coppersmith in the former Boston Navy Shipyard for more than 30 years, retiring in 1972. He worked for Harvard University after his retirement until 1991, when he retired for the second time.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was also a member of the Martha's Vineyard Polar Bear Club.

Mr. Suarez was the beloved husband of the late Thelma (Harris) Suarez. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5. Graveside services will follow at noon in Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Bluffs.
