Daria Marathas, 86, Was Resident of Oak Bluffs

Daria Marathas, a longtime resident of Oak Bluffs and wife of the late Charles (Mr. C.) Marathas, died Thursday, May 1, at the age of 86.

Daria was the daughter of Charles and Mary (Barkawitz) Kuietauskas and was born and raised in Norwood. She moved to Martha's Vineyard in 1969 and resided on the Island for 34 years.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking and caring for everyone. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.

She is survived by three sons, Bopper Marathas of New Smyrnia, Fla., Ken Marathas of Daytona, Fla., and George Marathas of Hyannis, and three daughters, Lainie Bonito of Oak Bluffs, Sophie Robinson of Flowery Branch, Ga., and Joanne Marathas of Oak Bluffs. Also surviving are her sister, Annie Kvetfski of Windemere Nursing Home, Oak Bluffs, and her brother, Charlie Kuietauskas of Walpole, as well as eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was loved by many and will be missed dearly.

Her funeral service was private. Arrangements were by the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs.
