Mrs. Isabel Massey, 89, Was Native of Nicaragua

Isabel Massey of Winyah Lane, Vineyard Haven, died suddenly on Sept. 12 at the age of 89 years. She was a resident of Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oak Bluffs.

Born Fabiana Isabel Martinez Corea in Managua, Nicaragua, Isabel came to the United States in 1929 to attend school. In 1936, she married the late James I. Massey of Richmond, Va., and settled in Boston. She is survived by her three children: Isabel Fortune of Zihuatanejo, Mexico, Miki Badnek of Vineyard Haven and James L. Massey of Boston. She also leaves eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, as well as many family members in Nicaragua, Florida and California. A light-hearted person who delighted everyone with whom she came in contact, Isabel was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at noon at the First Congregational Church of West Tisbury. Burial services will be held the following day, Friday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. at Blue Hills Cemetery in Braintree. Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of Martha's Vineyard, P.O.
