An open casting call for the Netflix adaptation of Judy Blume’s book Forever will take place April 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Loft Night Club in Oak Bluffs.

The Netflix show will be an eight-part series, with one episode being shot on the Vineyard.

All Vineyard residents ages six and up are welcome and the opportunity is paid. The shoot dates on the Island are May 13 to 24 and extras will be needed for one to two days. The objective is to capture the Island at its core, said Angela Peri, founder of Boston Casting, who is spearheading the casting call.

“We’re asking people to please bring friends because we want to hire as many people on the Island as possible,” Ms. Peri said.

Multiple locations around the Island have been scouted and approved by the respective town boards. Some film locations include Niantic Park, Back Door Donuts, the Flying Horses, Squibnocket Beach, the Steamship terminal and the Aquinnah Circle, among others.

“It’s exciting to come and see how a TV series is made,” Ms. Peri said. “Come and see all the professionals at work.”

The casting call is open to anyone interested, but the greatest demand is for 18 to 20-year-olds, Ms. Peri said. Additionally, male basketball players over the age of 18 are needed.

Mostly known for her children’s and young adult works, Judy Blume has published more than 25 novels, including Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret and Blubber. Ms. Blume was also a longtime seasonal resident of the Vineyard.
