The next Chappy Community Center potluck is on Wednesday March 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. Bring your favorite dish to serve eight. Would you like to be the host? Hosts are responsible for hors d’oeuvres for 20 people, beverages, set up and clean-up. It’s actually a fun job. Lots of folks stick around to help with the clean up. A penumbral lunar eclipse will occur Monday March 25, reaching maximum at 3:12 a.m. For those who want to experience the whole phenomenon, it starts at 12:51 a.m. and ends at 5:34 a.m.

Every fourth Saturday of the month, the Vineyard Conservation Society facilitates an Island beach clean-up. Google VCS Beach BeFrienders for up-to-date information.

The sixth annual Chappy Point to Point foot race will be held on Sunday, June 30. The proceeds from this fundraising event go to benefit a worthy cause. The organizers have their thinking caps on. My sources say it’s going to be a gem of an idea.

July Fourth is on a Thursday this year which will make for a four-day weekend. Keep that in mind when your friends ask if they can come for a quick visit to Chappy for the Fourth. That might not feel too quick to the hosts.
