The Vineyard boys basketball team fell to Medfield 61-54 in the playoff round of 16 on the road Tuesday evening.

It was a tough loss for the Vineyarders as they dug themselves into a 17-6 hole after the first period.

While the Vineyard team struggled to find its rhythm on offense, the Medfield squad kept hitting deep threes and was allowed to grab numerous offensive rebounds that they converted into points.

When the Vineyarders’ shots did start falling, they were eventually able to pull themselves within five points in the final minute. But by then, it was too little, too late. Missed free throws were also a big difference in the game.

Josh Lake and Sam Zack led the Vineyard with 18 points each. Lake hit five threes and had 13 rebounds and two steals. Zack’s stat line included five rebounds, three steals and a block. Nate Story had nine points, three rebounds and two steals.
